An Amazing piece of machinery... by Jules, Auckland on 01/23/2009. Trim: 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK SLK55 AMG, Owned 1 year.
Pros: This is the first car I have ever owned, I wanted to do it once and do it right. I'm over public transport, and this was doing it in style. I was looking at an SL350 but the canny salesman got me to look at this and I fell in love with it straight away. I have had it 7 months now and it keeps getting better. This is an amazing peice of engineering in almost every aspect. They worked on everything - enormously overpowered engine that was made to sound great, the visual aspect is cool, and the package kinda just feels "right". Its a car that anyone would be proud to own.
Cons: There's a few cheap looking plasticy bits in it, but that was in the name of saving weight so I hear...
Overall review: I have 3 friends with Porsche 911 Turbos, which are clinically fantastic, but lacking character. Compared to this car. And they have all said that. This is a drivers machine as much as any Porsche, just in a totally different approach. The noise it makes when you bury your foot into the floorboards makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end...

Excellent Small Roaster by Alex from Boston on 03/23/2005. Trim: 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK SLK350, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: More power, better handling, more masculine styling. The computer informs driver about everything.
Cons: Less gas mileage.
Overall review: This new version has more power, better handling, better response, and better appearance. If you get the AirScarf with heated seats you will be able to drive comfortably with the top down at temperatures around 50 degrees. Overall the vehicle is worth the money. Trunk space is very similar to the all version even though is tecnically bigger. A lot better than a the Porsche's trunk space.

Great Boxster Fighter by Min, Sherman Oaks, CA on 12/19/2004. Trim: 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK SLK350, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Gotta love that McLaren front grill look also found in the SLR model which costs $500k. I have now driven this car for 10 days or so. Car handles extremely well and has that solid German car feel. Acceleration, braking, and details are great. The car looks great and drives great. And I got a great deal on it.
Cons: Not so much to dislike per say. But there are too many buttons in the cockpit. From all the buttons on the steering wheel to on-board cell phone by the audio controls, there are just too many buttons. Interior material feels great, but could leave easily scuff marks. A few days ago, the car for no reason started mis-shift and would NOT upshift. The problem went away the following day and no problem so far. I am hoping that is not something I have to encounter again.
Overall review: Great car. This is also my first Mercedez. I have gone from Honda Prelude, Infinity I30, Toyota 4Runner, Lexus GS300, Lexus RX330 to this car. It's a great handling car and has a very solid feel.
