1998 ford taurus SE proves.

Pros:
Well, this is my first car. It is silver. I have all the power options, windows, locks, seats,mirrors, ect... it has 122, 560 miles and runs strong. shifts great, no leaks, ect... NOTE TO BUYERS: the black plastic trim where the rocker panels are: it may hide rot/ rust. Even if you do not notice it from the outside, it may be completely rotted out underneath where the rocker panels are. The car seems very heavy when driving down the road, (which I like). What i like to compare this car to is the dodge intrepid. It feels really solid. inside is great. the speaker system(stock) is actually really nice, im NOT replacing it! my car has 4 wheel anti lock disk brakes. They work well.
Cons:
Rust may be an issue. Check the rear struts for rust, and check the gaz filler "pipe" for rust.
Overall review:
solid car. I bought it from my boss at our local restaurant. He took good care of it, but never babied it. and it still turns over without any hesitation in the engine or when driving, no hesitation from transmission. I paid 300 for mine. with about 1100 dollars in repairs, touch ups, Im paying about 1500 dollars for a car that only has 122 k miles on it! :) pay cash and laugh at the people with the payments. folks remember: all vehicles do the same thing: is to get you there and back! Im 16 and I LOVE my taurus SE!!

The seats are cheap and feel like church benches. The headlights are almost completely clouded and very dull for night driving. Transmission in these cars are not very strong and if driven hard can be destroyed in 5k miles or less.
Overall review:
Overall this is economical safe transportation that if driven with respect will last and not cost you an arm and a leg.
This car is not one that will impress with its styling or performance but it is one built for the daily grind. I have over 300k on the car and i have not had any major issues. I have owned it 13 years now and it has only not started twice. Once it was the starter the other dead battery.
Ive wanted a new car for several years now but just cant justify buying anything until this car starts to faulter. Great car.

Cons:
Don't buy Ford. This car is totally junk. Poor quality, poor control, and not reliable at all. Replace almost every major parts.
Dealer nevers work as they should be. Have car oil pan gasket replaced a year ago for $280. Only a years later, I have to replace them again for $400. Ford never acknowledge their technicians did not work right to replace the gasket at first attemp.
Never buy Ford. Or you will be a fool

Fast Car

Pros:
I have the 3.0L 24V DOHC engine. Acceleration is great. Faster than any other vehicle I have owned including my V8's back in the 70's. Also, very low maintenance. Other than routine oil changes, I just did an overall tune up at 80,000 miles although the car's performance really wasn't suffering. Just thought it was time. Fairly easy to do all the maintenance / tuneup myself - although replacing the belt was a bit of a challenge (not much room).
Cons:
Seems to ding and dent easily. 90,000 less miles than my 92 dodge minivan but just as many dings. Brakes tend to squeal despite brand new pads and anti-squeal compound.
Overall review:
Very good vehicle. Great performance. Low maintenance.

Pros:
I love my Taurus. I would definitely recommend this vehicle to anyone. My v-6 is loaded with power.
Cons:
I dislike the color (a rather sad, tan).
