Great Ride
by BuickFan from Columbus on 05/18/2013.
Owned 8 years.
Useful?
Pros:
Tested the ride in many SUV's and found that the Rainier air suspension system was the only one that my Osteoporosis could tolerate. Needed the SUV for business purposes and appreciated the towing and hauling capabilities. ..
Cons:
The noise level is higher than should be. That said, I would trade my old one in tomorrow for a new SUV with a similar ride, especially if it was a Buick.
Overall review:
Great multipurpose car. How about a another Buick SUV with the famous Buick ride?

GM makes a great SUV.
by Happy in Denver on 06/12/2007.
Trim: 2005 Buick Rainier CXL AWD, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
I love this SUV, it’s quiet and rides like a car. It has enough power to pull the boat up the mountains or take four full sized adults with gear skiing. Lots of headroom and legroom and I am 6’3”. The XM Satellite Radio is a real plus in western states where the radio reception is spotty. This is only my second GM vehicle but I am sold now. (No more foreign cars). I traded in a Blazer on the Rainier after 150K worry free miles. As long I am in the flat land I get better gas mileage than the rating, (23 on long trips and 17 in town. That may not be significant because I always get better than the rated gas mileage with any car.
Cons:
The rear hatch does not open far enough, 4 more inches would help. As with any GM Cruse Control the vehicle accelerates too fast. I like to be able to push “Resume” and have the vehicle slowly return to the desired speed while conserving the most fuel. I hope to go green with my next SUV and would like a hybrid that can still pull the boat. That was just not available in 2005 when I got the Rainier.
Overall review:
A mid sized SUV is not for everyone but if that is what you are looking for, look at the Rainier. It’s a great truck for all of your toys.

GM's "Mid Size Escalade"
by Classic GM and Mopar Gearhead in Denver on 11/28/2006.
Trim: 2005 Buick Rainier CXL AWD, Owned 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
Looks, performance, very minor problems total three in two years. Smooth, quiet and inline six pulls my boat with no problems.(18ft Bayliner I/O) Buick needs to promote this more before giving up on it. They are a mid size Escalade! Can't remember when I last saw an add for a new one. I sell Cadillacs part time at a Denver dealer and every Rainer we have bought pre-owned has been sold in less than 3 weeks. New owners love them. One test drive...sold!
Cons:
The'05 didn't come standard with side airbags, cargo shade. For the price it should have. The trailblazer does.
Overall review:
Excellent mid size SUV. with two powertrains to get the job done with all the smoothness and quiteness of a Escalade. Sharp looks, one of the best looking SUV's on the road. Great interior and add the Bose stereo, great sound as well.
