Luxurious Repair Monster by Brady Man on 12/30/2013. Trim: 2005 Lincoln Aviator Luxury, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Interior styling and exterior are very nice. Car is certainly a luxury vehicle. Smooth ride on the highway with excellent power and acceleration from the standard V8. Third row seating is nice, and for a mid-size SUV their is plenty of leg room in all three seating areas. Leather interior is durable and Lincoln's interior styling is second to none. Plenty of storage space in the doors, consoles, and cargo area. 2WD models still have plenty of off-pavement capability considering ground clearance, engine power, and AdvanceTrac slip control.
Cons: Vehicle is known to have mechanical issues. I bought a used 2005 with only 55,000 miles. I now have 92,000 miles. Since my purchase I have replaced both rear wheel bearings and have just completed a transmission rebuild. Back hatch liftgate has a crack running down the center (common in this year model Explorer, Mountaineer, and Aviator). The steering is also shaky when braking, and the linkage will probably need to be replaced. As well, Ford's AdvancTrac system has been sketchy at best. Gas milegae is horrendous with 13 mpg in town and 18 mpg on the highway. Do not buy the Lincoln Aviator if you intend to stay away from the Mechanic or the Gas pump.
Overall review: Car is a nice size, plenty of room for the whole family and a pet or two. The Aviator is very comfortable on long trips. Love the vehicle. However, if I had it to do over again I would have purchased another Explorer where the quality would have been higher. Lincoln used cheap Korean bearings on the Aviator in an effort to cut costs, and the repair bills certainly make this fact known.

Beautiful but has its problems. by natalie on 04/29/2007. Trim: 2005 Lincoln Aviator Luxury, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Beautiful vehicle. Lovely interior. Nice riding SUV.
Cons: Bad on gas, and requires premium. Steering wheel squeaks with every turn. Had in shop twice for rear wheel problems. Loud road noise.
Overall review: I really like this car. But the premium gas requirement is a negative.

Perfection! by An MSN Autos Consumer on 04/10/2007. Trim: 2005 Lincoln Aviator AWD Luxury, Owned 2 years.
Pros: I love the vehicle because it has the third row of seating but it is a mid-size suv.
Cons: It could use a little more leg room for those large men.
Overall review: This car is ideal for me and I am sorry they discontinued it.
