Pleased to the Maxx by Andrew/Ontario on 07/30/2009. Trim: 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx LT, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Much to love. Appearance, hatch-back and wagon function with sedan driveability, excellent gas mileage (38 m.p.g. highway) gas mileage even more startling when coupled with vehicle's pep (200 h.p.) Great sound system, rear window wiper, remote start, front and side airbags, rear seat room, entertainment center (rear video screen keeps our 5 yr. old quiet and happy on trips). Traction control and heated seats appreciated when the temperature drops. The extra features are all good... automatic head light function, power seat, auto rear-view mirror dim, leather upholstery and power moon roof.
Cons: Hard to think of any dislikes that would be considered major. I did have to replace the radio as something internal was draining the batery overnight. Replaced rear tailight socket and cable for pedal adjust. However these could be considered incidental occurrences.
Overall review: I couldn't be happier with a vehicle and don't know why G.M. didn't promote this vehicle more let alone discontinue them after the 2007 model. If you want a good looking smooth sedan performer along with the extra function and convenience of hatchback and large cargo area, search out a malibu maxx. They are a rare find but worth the search.

The Swiss Army Knife of Cars by Doug B. Seattle WA on 06/29/2009. Trim: 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx LS, Owned 1 year.
Pros: The gas mileage is outstanding and is way above epa figures. I am able to get 34 mpg with the cruise set at 70mph with the AC on! The power of the 3.5 liter V6 is more than adequate and can spin the front tires with ease. The brakes feel like an anchor has been dropped and the room is more than enough to hold this six foot five inch dude. The electronic steering only adds to the handling of this european tuned, SAAB shared platform. It is a great driver.
Cons: The brakes can be touchy and need to be rotated more than I am used to. However, there are service spots that can redo either end of the car for a resonable cost. Shop around!! Speaking of that tire squeal with the punchy V6, it can get really tiresome in the snow and rain and it makes the traction control come on almost instantaneously. Don't get me wrong, theseis are minor annoyances and should not hinder your descision to purchase this car.
Overall review: If you can find one, buy it. I got a great deal on mine from a great dealership. It is a pity that this car was so underappreciated as it is a total gem. It is like the Swiss Army knife of cars.

Wagon-up by G-Rock from Milwaukee on 11/23/2012. Trim: 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx LS, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Looks, versatility, comfort, did I mention looks...
Cons: Placement of Rear wiper switch and size of glove box
Overall review: This is the coolest looking vehicle available... After you get used to it... The way the rear end sits with the back tires showing reminds me of an old muscle car... That gets 30+ mpg highway... If you keep your foot out of it... The interior is spaciousness and easy to figure out... The radio and center stack controls are nice... The back seat slides for and aft and reclines so there is enough room for 6' plus people in four places in the vehicle... The rear moon roofs make the backseat seem even roomier than they already are... I enjoy the handling of the car and braking... With upgraded pads... Buy ceramic pads for this vehicle... The versatility of the hatchback design is overlooked by many of the people in the market today... We need more wagons on the market today... Chevy bring this car back please...

Pros: I love everything about my car... at first i though it looked a little like a stationwagon, but driving it changes your mind! It's peppy, and fun to drive
Cons: higher quality material on the seats but other than that it's awesome!
Overall review: I love this car and would buy another one in a second!

Reliability by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/30/2009. Trim: 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx LT, Owned 3 years.
Pros: It has been super reliable, the gas mileage is fabulous (much better than the EPA average), it's pretty peppy, has great cargo capability (have used it to bring home a 9 foot live Christmas tree every year-inside the car with no problem). I have never had anything go wrong with this car. The only maintenance I have done is replacing battery, tires, and belts and hoses- all things you should replace before anything is wrong so that nothing goes wrong! The traction control is great, and I've driven on ice and snow with no problems when the big SUVS were running off the road. It has lots of cupholders and power sources- a must if transporting children.
Cons: The only thing I dislike is the fabric on the seats- if you spill a bottle of water on them, it dries and looks stained. it's not, of course, it just looks that way, and I just swipe it with some upholstry cleaner and it's fine again. That's the only dislike I have. Some people don't like the station-wagony kind of look, but I promise this car's look will grow on ya if you don't like it from the beginning.
Overall review: Great car- enough said.
