Carpooling by mumznutz on 11/16/2005. Trim: 2005 Ford Freestar SE, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Compared to what I had. 1997 Plym Breeze. It has more room, more speed and I enjoy driving it.
Cons: Nothing major at this time, its only two months old

not horrible, not great either. by Speed Ricer hwy65 on 03/14/2013. Trim: 2005 Ford Freestar SES.
Pros: Spacious, sits high, nice exterior.
Cons: Odd wheels and brakes not designed for this type of car, wear out easy and ride rough and shakey. Transmission issues are common. Big rollover risk. Back seats are very low and have had a recall.
Overall review: Several things keep this from being a great van. Annoyances like the seat belt indicator aside mechanically it's very odd. car brakes on a van wear out very quickly, suspension and shocks in the one I drove was bad, the amount of bad transmissions i've seen reported are VERY high. I don't want it. My wife says it's pretty and she wants it. I hope I can talk her out of it. I miss my old dead Caravan.

Ford built tough.. by Jimmy C. on 06/24/2012. Trim: 2005 Ford Freestar SES, Owned 6 years.
Pros: Bought minivan with 11,00 miles. has 66,900 now. No problems at all. Drives solid and smooth. gas milege is fair, but it is a large vehicle with 3.9 Liter engine. Comfortable ride and fairly quite on the road. Lots of storage and style..
Cons: Nothing bad
Overall review: Well worth considering for a minivan

Great -if you get a good one. by 40 years of Fords on 09/26/2010. Trim: 2005 Ford Freestar Limited, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Comfort, styling and affordability.
Cons: Well known torque converter spline issues. We replaced ours just a short time before it was likely to give up (67k mileage). Front brake rotors will require redressing every 10k to 12k miles as they develop some pulsing. Replaced frozen rear brake calipers at 56k miles.
Overall review: A very nice, comfortable vehicle with plenty of amenities. Expect to pay for repairs.
