It has good road handling, instrumentation, and visibility. It's a good looking car. The car accelerates fast and get acceptable mpg. The radio is excellent..

It has had 2 recalls, that were quickly fixed. The interior could use upgrading and attention.
Overall review:
I would definitely consider a new altima especially with all the new improvements.

Very good improvement!
by Satisfied owner so far on 12/09/2005.
Trim: 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 S, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
I never like Nissan's before. I didn't like the pass models of the Maxima or the Altima. I still do not like the Maxima, but what an improvement on the Altima. I like the performance. It reminds me of the probe I use to own. If you want to take off on the road, this 4 cylinder model will do the job. I also like the body shape, it has a great sporty look which is only added to when you have a sunroof. The cd/radio (bose)in my car is great and the sound from the speakers unbeatable. I never heard quality like that before.
Cons:
The cruise control went off once on the car I owned and the car shut down; I was able to coast to the side of the road and restart. Also the sunrook became stuck in the open position once. And when I locked the windows to prevent passengers from adjusting, the car locked the driver from adjusting all but the driver windows. Took to Nissan dealership. A C- on customer service. After serveral back and forth all was fixed.
Also the car does float a bit and you can feel the type of road you are on under your feet if it is not smooth or rough.
Overall review:
Overall I really like the car. I only regret not buying the V6 fully equiped top model. I love power in a car and the idea when I need it its available and from what I hear the V6 is even better (although 4 cylinder is no laughing matter). Now I am waiting for the Hybrid. From what I hear the car will not suffer on performance and because of this will not have the high miles per gallon as the Toyota Prius. But who wants a small slow toad on the road anyway?
