BAJA Car/truck
by Golfo on 06/25/2005.
Trim: 2004 Subaru Baja Sport, Owned 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
I couldn't find a car that fits my lifestyle any better. i ride both mountain and road bikes and mounting them in the bed rather than the roof make a big difference when driving. it rides like a car and nothing like a truck
Cons:
the accelaration is not very good. but then again they have the turbo now and i missed out on it.
Overall review:
i would not recommend this vehicle if you have a kid over the age of 5, the rear seat doesn't give you much leg room. if towing family around isn't an issue for you then this is the car/truck of my dreams.

The ultimate car/truck
by bajanut on 06/22/2005.
Trim: 2004 Subaru Baja Turbo, Owned 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
I love the fact that this is a car with a truck bed. It drives like a car and it has the fuel economy of a car, but the utility of a truck, even some off-roading.
Cons:
built on the older outback frame. It would be a lot better if it were made on the new 05 outback frame and body stylings.
Overall review:
This is the absolute best vehicle hat I have ever owned, which includes 4 other subarus. The subaru is an exclient reputation for longevity and the workmanship shows.

Trim: 2004 Subaru Baja Turbo, Owned 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
fantastic in snow, goes whoosh when you step on the gas, practical for outdoor sports like kayaking, canoeing, biking, fishing. comfortable seating for 4 adults.
Cons:
would be nice if back seat had room for a small child in the middle instead on console
Overall review:
I have enjoyed the heck out of mine. Some people think it looks funny, others are crazy about it.

Nearly perfect!
by Drew, San Francisco on 07/16/2004.
Trim: 2004 Subaru Baja Turbo, Owned less than 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
Versatility, Powerful engine (in the Turbo model), looks, standard features like the moonroof, handling, pretty much everything. I love Subaru's, they are amazing cars and cost so little to maintain. Its the perfect combo for someone who wants to go straight from the beach to the slopes.
Cons:
No heated seats unless you get leather, need to get a bed cover to have a lock.
Overall review:
I love this car. I've owned 2 Subaru's prior to this, a '92 SVX and a '99 Outback, and this is a great cross between the 2. The Outback is an amazing car, but sometimes you want to drive something a little sportier, and this fills that niche, but gives you more capabilities than the SVX did. Don't think this is going to replace your Ford F150 or Chevy Silverado, it may be classified as a truck, but thats just because of the new frames Subaru's sit on. They are not truck replacements, rather a car/truck. They havent been as well received as the Outbacks or Foresters, and truly are a niche vehicle, but since I have bought mine, I've been getting more complements on it than any of my friends get on their $40,000 Jeeps. I would reccommend splurging and putting a lockable Snugtop cover on the bed. It will run you an additional $1400 or so, but its a great thing to have.
