Expensive to own, fun to drive by John from St. Louis, MO on 07/03/2009. Trim: 2004 Porsche Cayenne S, Owned 2 years.

Pros: Disclaimer: I have been a devoted Porsche fan since I was about 13. I love the way the car looks and the way it sounds. It drives great for a high powered, sport tuned SUV. If you're looking for the smoothest ride, this isn't it. But if you're looking for something distinct that accelerates into traffic beautifully (I have the V8-powered S) and turns heads (rare for an SUV), then you'll appreciate the Cayenne.
Cons: Quality. I bought mine used in 2007, it had just come off of a three year lease. The dealership I bought it from did all of the maintenance, so I could see the long, long history of this car in the shop for warranty repairs. Once I got it, for about the first 10,000 miles it was in the shop a lot, fortunately still under warranty. The electrical systems seem to be the biggest source of problems... lights, nav system, triptronic shifting... lots of other things had problems. The engine and the transmission are definately Porsche, I didn't have any problems with those.
Overall review: It's a very expensive car to own. I just got the brakes & rotors replaced for $1500, and that was a bargain (I shopped around)... the engine tune-up was $900. It's a Porsche, and I was prepared for that, but make sure you are too. Used Cayenne's can be had for a relative bargain, just make sure you are prepared to pay for repairs & maintenance... and most service centers won't even touch them. Find yourself a good, independent repair shop that sevices them... the dealerships hourly rates will kill you.

Pros: This is the funnest SUV you can get! It fits like a glove and rides as sporty as you can get with an SUV. The engine and brakes are awsome!
Cons: Back seat ac could use more horse powder....I would of invested in the back seat AC unit.
Overall review: Buisness Owners......this is a write off!
