Kia Rio is Actually a Pretty Good Car by Matthew, Philadelphia and then Orlando on 10/09/2008. Trim: 2004 Kia Rio Sedan, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Amazing Turning Radius Cold A/C Amazing native Sound System that protects itself from over loud sounds Average comfort sitting for extended periods quiet engine warranty is amazing and the two things that ever went bad with it were a rattling rusted off heat shield on the under carriage from salt corrosion and a wheel alignment problem after I hit a curb dirfting in snow. The KIA service people routinely undercharge for their services. It has a nice sporty look to it, especially the classic red model (my model). Decent mileage @ 29mpg after 3 years and no tune up. (this was slightly above average for this year) Amazing driving control on snow and ice. 100mph max.
Cons: The acceleration trick has to be employed to get any pickup (Ie. revving the pedal half way real quick, letting go a tiny bit then pushing a little harder after it "Catches") The A/C gets too cold as even the lowest setting will eventually freeze you out (you need to adjust the temp dial) the A/C may smell funny at first in moist hot regions. little leg room for back seat passengers. 6 inches more would have helped immensely. after two years the engine starts to shake the whole car lightly. Your brother's ex-wife, if she's crazy, can take your car without your knowledge to a KIA dealership and get a copy of your car key made, no questions asked...
Overall review: THERE IS A RECALL on the rear child seat belt, go to your KIA dealer to have it fixed for free. I am biased and blinded because it's my first car, but driving other cars feels like riding an elephant, my kia rio is a sporty hot shot but also a svelt hummingbird. If you treat it right, keeping it tuned and oiled, it will perform in the coldest and hottest weather. I rates everything 7. everything is halfway between satisfactory and Perfect. Great is too strong a word, but "pretty good" is still too weak to describe it. Stylish, but not so desirable that it risks theft. Here is what went wrong during the three year life of my car. 1. check engine light for defective Oxygen sensor last week. $25 2. rusted screw on heat shield beneath car rusted out from salt corrosion in winter conditions fixed last week $25 3. wheel misalignment from doing donuts skidding on ice and hiting a curb at 3mph, fixed last april. $40 that's 3 years of work, not including oil changes . I still love my car.

Small stuff by An MSN Autos Consumer on 02/16/2012. Trim: 2004 Kia Rio Sedan, Owned 1 year.
Pros: When it works it does amazing but it hasnt worked most the time since i got the car and ive have it for about 4 months now and it has worked maybe 6 days of the 4 months
Cons: I have had to take it to the shop about 4 times now and each time i take it to the shop so far it will be fixed for about 2 days and then it will go straight back to what it was doing before it got fixed and right now i have it in the shop for the fifth time and hopefully it will be fixed this time but i dont no if it will work for more then 2 days hopefully it does then it is made for people 5'9" or shorter cause im 5'10" and im just a little too tall for the car and pretty much nobody can sit behind me
Overall review: If it worked all the time i would recommend it to a lot of people

Avoid by Laura on 12/11/2011. Trim: 2004 Kia Rio Sedan, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Its better than no car :) its not a bad car overall but has lots of annoying problems
Cons: Can be a good car when it feels like it, but would not recommend one, has a number ofproblems, mainly problems eg - rev counter doesnt work most of the time, door sensor broke and beeped at me for 7 hours down the motorway till i could fix it, petrol light comes on if you have less than half a tank in, electric windows sometimes work even if the key is out, electric wing mirrors dont always work, it sometimes jerks like ive have changed gear to fast even though im not using any of the pedals,
Overall review: can be awkward to get it into reverse sometimes, if you have the boot open for more than a few mins the car locks its self so dont leave your keys on the front seat! had the car 2 year and wheel bearings have been changed 4 times, its been looked at and aparently everythings fine the list could go on ..... its a lovely purple colour though :)

Looking for a better car by MOM in NY on 05/16/2008. Trim: 2004 Kia Rio Sedan, Owned 4 years.
Pros: It's a cute first car.
Cons: Too small. I have a toddler seat in the back and my daughters legs are on the front seat. I feel unsafe driving in the snow.
Overall review: The car is o.k.
