Poor choice... by jeff5267 on 02/08/2011. Trim: 2004 Kia Sorento LX 2WD, Owned 7 years.

Pros: I would not recommend this year Sorento to anyone... After a little over 55,000 miles the crankshaft pulley bolt sheared off... Costing over 7,000 dollars to repair... Kia would " NOT " cover this under their so called 10 year 100,000 mile warranty... Kia know this is a problem they even have a replacement bolt to fix the problem... Kia is right on par with Toyota as being an irresponsible and greedy corporation...

daisy the wonder suv by yankee red neck on 12/26/2011. Trim: 2004 Kia Sorento LX 2WD, Owned 3 years.

Pros: this car is great. i did not think i would like it when i bought it for my wife but after we decided to take it on a trip from okc to chicago and back with 123000 miles on it and had no problomes with it what so ever it changed my mind best car i have ever owned now it has 169000 miles on it and it still is going.
Cons: well it does have it<s problomes i am sor of a geer head getting parts for it is dificult you can only get them from the dealer and they are pricey the parts are very dificult to change without a machine shop> but overall fun to work on.
Overall review: i would recommend this car to any one who likes challenges. these cars have minds of thier own and should be treated as such if you treat them like a piece of machienery they will work like that and break down, if you treat them like they are part of the family they will take real good care of you.

Few issues except light bulbs by Ru on 06/26/2010. Trim: 2004 Kia Sorento LX 2WD, Owned 2 years.
1
Pros: How its drives - handles the road well.
Cons: This car goes through front and rear light bulbs like candy! Replacing them isnt as often as filling the car with gas but it feels like it. I thought my car had an electrically issue that was unique but through internet research have found its a common complaint.
Overall review: I would, overall, recommend.

Perfect Compliment for my BMW by Outlander & Bimmer Enthusiast on 02/09/2010. Trim: 2004 Kia Sorento EX 4WD, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros: I have the fully optioned EX 4wd with the luxury package. All the options are worth it. Heated seats, heated windshield wiper/cowl area, automatic 4wd w/low gear and heated mirrors. The power is plenty which makes up for the mediocre gas mileage. This car is so perfect in the snow and winter which makes a good compliment to my BMW I drive in the summer. I bought this last year to replace my 2006 Mazda5. It was a good car but was horrible in the snow. I am really amazed at how well this vehicle has held up in 6 years and for it being a Kia. It has no rattles or broken trim. I will be sure to keep up on the regular maintenance to kep it running for many trouble free years.
Cons: I can't seem to break the 17 mpg mark. No matter how I drive it, it doesn't budge. I can do a long drive on the highway at 70 mph or drive it back and forth to work in rush hour and it doesn't matter.
Overall review: I was considering buying a Lexus RX300 before buying the Sorento but the deal didn't work out. I am glad I didn't because this suv is just as luxurious and I have the option of towing a lot or going off roading which I really would like to do someday. I have 67,500 miles on it now and here's hoping it holds up for at least another 100,000.

Without Luxury Options it's a Really Dependable Truck by Long Island Expressway (HOV) on 08/16/2009. Trim: 2004 Kia Sorento EX 4WD, Owned 5 years.
1
Pros: I bought the car new in 2004 for $17,500. When I first saw it on the road, I thought it was a Lexus SUV. It is handsome. I bought the car stripped, no options, 5-speed manual transmission. It was fun to drive. After 98,000 miles, all I did was change the oil and perform very minor routine maintenance. The car will eventually be crushed as I used it for the Cash for Clunker program ($4500) and got a Prius III.
Cons: Not much. The water pump went on me after 90,000 miles. It was covered under warranty. My girlfriend spent 2x the $$ on the same car, only she got leather, upgraded stereo, heated seats, power windows. She had the same problem with the water pump. She's had problems with every option on her car.
Overall review: Buy it stripped. My girlfriend had lots of problems with sunroof, heated seats, stereo, etc., etc. It was a good truck and I don't take good care of my cars. She got regular oil changes. I put over 90,000 miles in under 5-years.
