Good enough small car by V3 Central Indiana on 02/28/2011. Trim: 2004 Dodge Neon SXT, Owned 7 years.
3
Pros: Good amount of room for a small car. Solidly built and 118,000 miles and keeps on working.
Cons: Squeeky brakes, funky smell from the ventilation system, heavy road noise, never got better than 31 mpg! Resale value tanked!
Overall review: Good small car, all things considered. Always thought it should get better mileage than 31 mpg. Small but fixable problems that I (novice mechanic) could fix. The car keeps running though, with no major problems, I can't complain about that.

Think twice by Raju on 07/21/2008. Trim: 2004 Dodge Neon SXT, Owned 4 years.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: There is nothing to like in this car. Before you buy Dodge car think twice. My car has only 60K and transmission and radiator both blown up. When I asked customer service I could not get satisfactory answer. Door is harder to close, increase speed while cruise it speed up like 3-5 mile but not like slowly.
Overall review: Not advisable to buy

Great Commuter by Nick on 02/13/2005. Trim: 2004 Dodge Neon SXT, Owned 2 years.
1
Pros: It is an inexspensive car that handles nice and is easy to drive.
Cons: It has some engine clanking after only 25,000 miles.
Overall review: Should buy this car if looking for an inexpensive commuter car.

Requires too much routine maintenance by Sam on 12/23/2004. Trim: 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros: Easy to drive and very affordable. Downsized to this two months ago to lower my car payment by $100.00 a month.
Cons: It wasnt worth it! Example, my chevy did not need spark plugs or anti freeze flush or transmission oil change for 100,000 miles. My Neon needs new spark plugs every 30,000, trans flush at 40,000 and radiator flush at 40k. If you don't perform the maintenance you void the 70,000 mile warranty. Computer systems on Neon are obsolete by todays standards.
Overall review: I thought I was doing a good thing in saving some money but in the long run I will spend it on maintenance. Don't get me wrong, this isnt a bad car, it just isnt' accomplishing my goal to reduce my vehicle costs. Other than that I would also say that the gas mileage isn't that great, infact, my v6 Malibu gave me the same gas mileage.

Cheap. Fast. Good. Pick two. by Nick from Toronto on 04/26/2013. Trim: 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4, Owned 3 years.
Useful?
Pros: It is the fastest thing you can buy for the money. It still eats 350Z's off the line (with minor mods). The ride is good enough for everyday use, and I just took mine on a 1500km (950 mile) road trip. I used it everyday to commute, and it is great in town and with the exception of the exhaust, great on the highway. The seats are also great, and it is nice to have 4 doors.
Cons: The SRT-4 trim was the top of the line for this year (04). I bought mine used with 110km (68,000 miles), and had issues with balancing the front end. IT took 3 weeks until I replaced the front rotors myself to get it to drive smoothly at 110kph (68mph). It took me several months to get it working the way I wanted. After that it has required as much upkeep as a typical german car, which is suprising considering it's domestic.
Overall review: I really enjoy the car, but I can't say I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't like working on cars themselves. It is an easy car to work on, and parts are cheap and usually easy to come by (most are either standard neon, or PT crusers parts). If you want a cheap, fast 4 door, get a used Cobalt SS, or a used MazdaSpeed 3. If you have the cash, a GTI will cost about the same to run, is a little slower, and has as much after market support as the SRT. It is also much nicer inside.
