"THE BEST TOASTER YOU'LL EVER DRIVE"
by Fred Flintstone from North Carolina on 06/29/2011.
Trim: 2004 Scion xB Wagon, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
Being 6'7" tall and a bit on the heavy side, this car is incredibly spacious with plenty of headroom. Although it is not the fastest car on the road, it is peppy enough to prevent you from being run over. I bought my 2004 Scion xB used with 100k miles on it and I average 30-33mpgs in city & highway every time (now have 123k miles). General maintenance goes a long way on these cars. There are many Scion websites and clubs on the internet who are very willing to share tips. I bought it since changing jobs and in need of a "gas getter" for the hour drive to and from work. The stereo system rocks (thanks to the previous owner). Great little car for the money.
Cons:
I hate to say anything negative about the car, but recently my A/C died on me and when living in NC, that is unacceptable with the humidity and high temps outside. I was quoted $2200.00 to replace the entire A/C system, when I asked why so high, it is because most aftermarket companies refer repair shops to use genuine Toyota parts; ie: a/c compressor $1190, a/c drier $87.99, a/c expansion valve $84.00 and labor $838.00!! So I did some checking and have found DENSO parts to total: $637.00 and $300 labor= $937 total vs. $2200=no brainer. Also has same warranty as Toyota parts. I'm not looking forward to paying this bill, but I just gotta do it. I still love my Toaster regardless.
Overall review:
Outstanding little car and overall trouble free. Incredible room for a car that looks like a Matchbox Car. Not a family car, but excellent for around town or commuting to work. Excellent MPG's and fun to drive. Turns heads while driving and many people always ask my opinion about it. The 2004-06 models 5 speed and automatic's gear shift is on the floor, the newer models are on the dash and not good for long legged folks. Toyota replacement parts are expensive, but there are many aftermarket companies that will cut cost in half or less. Car is simple and makes it easy to do repairs. I plan on driving mine until my life ends. It is a keeper and would make a great beginner car for a teenager, because it will not go superfast and to insure it is cheap. If you haven't tried one, don't knock it, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Pros:
It's "Senior" friendly entry and exit of both front and back seats.
Cons:
The instrument panel is not the most "organized".
Overall review:
A great little vehicle for most generations. Economical, roomy, good handling, excellent vision--too bad GM didn't do it!

Long live the Box
by Tumble Weed from OC on 07/28/2010.

Pros:
Gas mileage, roomy front and back seats. I never had so much leg room in the back seat of any car! Great visibility from inside. Distinct look that is unmatched.
Cons:
No matter how fast you are going on the freeway, everyone driving around you seems to feel insecure about going the same speed as the Scion and they will try to get around you. It's actually funny and my Girlfriend and I joke about it every time we are out driving. The car is a little slow to start if you don't have fresh oil, sparks and air filter installed.
Overall review:
Super reliable, roomy car. Great sound system. Great visibility. I would have a very hard time ever parting with this car. Plan to keep it until it rusts into the ground.

The best "Refrigerator box" you could buy!
by Drive it like you stole it on 09/23/2009.
Trim: 2004 Scion xB Wagon, Owned 5 years.

Pros:
Still turns heads after five years. Amazing amount of space in a small package.
Cons:
Would have liked larger speakers in the rear. Useless with rear seats up and cargo cover on. Seatbelts vibrate with the windows down if they are not being used.
Overall review:
Trouble free and easy to customize. Still get people that want to buy a new one and check out the car, not realizing that it is five years and they do not make this body style anymore.
