Best "ZOOM" For Your Buck!!! by Ray on 04/21/2014. Trim: 2004 Mazda Tribute LX, Owned more than 10 years.
1
Pros: the v6 is shockingly responsive and powerful the cloth interior has held up for the past decade and still looks nice driveline is pretty solid at 140k miles much better looking than its ugly step sister the Escape spare tire is still immaculate cargo space is really large folding seats are easy to operate holds the road nicely joints have held up on the steering components I personally like the column shifter glass opens on rear hatch I LOVE the cargo organizer and tray held 95 mph at 3000 rpms (curious to see how fast it goes now) peppy suv at 20 grand new ample leg room with comfy seats got a few extras for free and the dealer was nice to deal with Zoom Zoom Zooom !!!
Cons: Problems with the interior plastics (paint worn off the radio bezel) hazard button broke through the dash and dealer wanted 600 to fix this. hazards went on intermittently too (even with ignition off and car locked) alternator conked at 99k radio lcd went out and only worked intermittently due to defective solder joints (this was recalled but not for my model year) so I fixed it speaking of the radio, the buttons keep falling off (super glue is temporary fix) radio knobs are also glued again and again regularly. floor mats could be more durable headlights and fog lights got hazy and moisture in them paint isn't too scratch resistant and front bumper is a mess from bug juice eating the paint
Overall review: Great Suv for the cash and I plan to drive it into the ground. Handles well (although suspension is stiff going over speed bumps). About 150 k on the original drivetrain and I cannot complain. Find a GOOD dealer, moved a year after buying this car new and dealers down where I am are lying jerks. The BEST tires are Firestone Destination 2's as they are quieter and grip the road much better in rain. Buy this suv with the V6 very important. My only regret is not getting 4wd. Although all the extras have the wiring harnesses built in already even if you didn't order them. This means you can upgrade your car with OEM extras by just plugging in and go. Even have the 4wd wiring harness in mine.

Rust bucket by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/31/2009. Trim: 2004 Mazda Tribute LX 4WD, Owned 5 years.

Pros: Very few driveline problems
Cons: The throttle sticks after a recall call to the throttle cable. The dealer says it needs a throttle body. Biggest problem is rust on the tailgate where the trim above the license plate rubbed thrpough the paint. Mazda said it was an environmental issue. Rust now around the rear wheel openings. Not even going to bother with Mazda or the dealer.
Overall review: Don't buy one if you want something to last and look nice.

It's all good! by D. on 08/15/2004. Trim: 2004 Mazda Tribute LX 4WD, Owned 1 year.

Pros: Went like a champ through a Montana blizzard. We had to spend the night since the roads were closed, but this SUV could have brought us home!
Cons: No power passenger seat.
Overall review: This is my first 4-wheel drive and I'm sold. It rides nice, handles well, and is overal VERY cute I think!! Perfect for 4 people and groceries!! Excellent trip vehicle for a couple people.

MY SUV by BUSHDOW on 07/31/2004. Trim: 2004 Mazda Tribute DX, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros: A lot of SUV for the money. I enjoy the smoth ride. The engine is very peppy 2.0 Liter engine. The manual transmission shifts very easy.
Cons: The seats aren't very comfortable. ABS brakes would be nice.
Overall review: Great SUV

Great SUV by Kathy, Arlington on 02/20/2004. Trim: 2004 Mazda Tribute LX 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros: I went from driving a CamaroZ28 with 285 HP to this SUV and the transition was relatively painless. It has a lot of pep, and is fun to drive. Handles great in the snow.
Cons: I have the automatic (my first automatic) and it seems to shift oddly at lower speeds. This is only a minor annoyance and does not take much away from the overall appeal of the car
Overall review: Great little SUV. Lots of room, lots of pep!!
