It is a sharp car and gets a lot of good coments from strangers. by Elliott "Pete" My personal transportation on 02/20/2012. Trim: 2004 Cadillac XLR Convertible, Owned 7 years.
Pros: Style, Handeling, Appearance, HP, Fuel economy, GPS, Ride
Cons: When I first got it something was always wrong with it and even now the warning light is on. That light has ben on for several years now and the dealor has never ben able to find the problem from the time it was new.
Overall review: A lot of pickey problems but it is a beautiful car.

An XLR review by someone who has actually driven one by papatango from So. Cal on 08/02/2003. Trim: 2004 Cadillac XLR Convertible, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Unlike most of the jerks who bad mouthed this car that they have never driven or probably even sat in, I have actually test driven the car against the SL500, the LexusSC430, and the Jag XK8. We drove on regular roads, and on an old gravel pit road out in the desert with rough uneven pavement. I did acceleration tests, cornering and handling test, and brake testing. The XLR, and the SL500 were diffinately the top two cars with a slight edge to the SL on braking, but exceleration, cornering, and looks go to the XLR. The car was exceptionally tight and looks even better in person than the pictures.
Cons: Hopefully they will start letting you pick some custom colors
Overall review: Cadillac is now #1 in customer satisfaction, and #2 in quality behind Lexus, but gaining fast. (J.D. Powers polls) Look for the XLR and other future Cadillacs to do very well in the premium luxury division. They offer more bang for your buck than the German cars, and more style than the Japanese. The car stickers for $76200 fully loaded compared to the same equipped SL at $108000. The car isn't even available yet and they are sold out with most dealers getting between $10000 to $30000 over sticker which is still a bargain. Smart money has bet on the right horse.

The "Most Fun" Drive by Sid from Calgary on 03/18/2005. Trim: 2004 Cadillac XLR Convertible, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Excellent handling, acceleration, braking. Overall quality is outstanding. Captures a lot of attention from all age groups, commenting on the "incredible" appearance. Driving this vehicle is an absolute pleasure most of the time. I drove this car through the winter, and had very little difficulty.
Cons: Lack of trunk space. With the top down, cannot get one set of golf clubs in the trunk. Slight water leakage in the convertible top in high pressure "touchless" car washes. Would have liked more technical features with the sound system such as an equalizer. Coffee cup holder placement is problematic. All problems are relatively minor and pale in comparison to the "fun" driving.
Overall review: I highly recommend this vehicle. I enjoy every drive I take in my XLR. People will constantly ask about and praise the car because of its unique looks. Having previously owned Mercedes vehicles, as well as high end Japanese vehicles, I am pleased to state the Cadillac XLR has restored my faith in GM's ability to compete and excel. The XLR is the "most fun" drive I have had since I rode my motorcycles.

Pros: GREAT CAR TRADED MY BMW
Cons: CENTER CONSOLE GETS SO HOT AFTER 1 HOUR OF DRIVING YOU COULD WARM YOUR COFFEE. DON'T TRY THE 800# FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE THE WAIT IS OVER 20 MINUTES IF AND WHEN SOMEONE ANSWERS.
Overall review: IT'S A KEEPER IF THEY FIX THE HOT CONSOLE
