Best performance winter driving car
by Vantage from Milwaukee on 12/31/2008.
Trim: 1998 Audi A6 Quattro, Owned 6 years.

Pros:
Quattro makes for Excellent Winter vehicle. Comfortable, safe reliable and lots of extras. Handling and driving enjoyment are very high. Very practicle car. Would buy again.
Cons:
Repairs can be expensive (but all German cars are) and quite a few recalls. 2 problems since owned: ABS control unit failed and have had a couple of Control arms broken. Apparantly these are well known issues.
Overall review:
I purchased from original owner at 4 years old with 60k miles. Now has 150k, has been very reliable and still going strong. If buying used, must see the maintenance records to ensure it has been taken care of. Find a trusted import shop who know German cars for repairs and maintenance - will cost much less than Audi dealer.

Pros:
everything, no noise from interior, all windows, seats, and lights still work, seats still look AMAIZING! NEVER EVER did me wrong in the winter quattro CANNOT be compared to any other all wheel drive system, as 2006 bmw 335 xi cannot handle as well in snow. 422 000 km no problems, original bearings, sway bars, pumps, pullies, body no rust.... don't knwo what all these people are talking about, as my car is easliy maintained 10.8 literes p/ 100km amaizing for car its size, no exhaust leak, supercharger being installed in one week as there are no problems!!!
2.8 has tonnes of power for what it is
Cons:
14 litres p/100km in city, this is a highway vehicle, know what your buying before you review it!
if you drive in the city look for a TDI! headlights oxidise only a smidge
ok i lied one problem, at 419 000 one transmission seal had gotten cracked and leaked tranny fluid for 2 months, ran dry for about a week and a half and i didn't notice, tranny was fine, a little slippage, took it in put in fluid... still fine!
my car made it without ANY issues to 422 000 kms 11 years old! i only had a small problem with the mass air flow bought one used 25 dollars! look around not a lazy mans vehicle!~!!!
buy a chev if your lazy!!!
Overall review:
422 000 km NO ISSUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
perfect in snow, no questions from car.
MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE! put 6 litres of synthetic, buy $13 audi oil filter good for 30 000 kms, no issues! keep on top of transmission fluid mineral from audi $23 per liter takes 5 when ran dry. other than that nothing! two of the most expensive things i have ever paid for!
