231,000 miles! by Barry in CA on 03/11/2012. Trim: 2003 Lexus ES 300 Sedan, Owned 4 years.

Pros: Comfortable smooth ride...at 231,000 miles still passes folks at 80-85 MPH up a steep hill every day without breaking a sweat. If you are a guy 6' 1" with a bad back like me this is the car for you. Like that I can commute 2-3 hours a day in it with no worries., and also that cops are looking for an old man or woman to be driving this thing so I get to speed all day.
Cons: Like everyone else, the cup holders in the front, and it seems to chew brakes.
Overall review: Although it is the "Plain Jane" lexus model for that year, it has been a comfortable, reliable car.

Almost perfect by Shifter on 10/05/2008. Trim: 2003 Lexus ES 300 Sedan, Owned 2 years.

Pros: Excellent finish! This car has apollen filter, which helps minimize driving in the environmental hazards of a big city, where I live. This item is being changed every 9 months, making for a big difference in the cabin air quality. The humming sound, heard on acceleration, is, most likely, part of the harmonics design of this car. (Yes, car companies design their cars to sound a certain way, via the design of exhaust components.)
Cons: Acceleration from a point of "stop" is not smooth. Transmission hesitates; and 'skips' on very agressive acceleration. Consequently, the transmission java software was upgraded (note:no software rollback) by Lexus, thus fixing the 'skip' problem, giving the car a different and more agressive ride by virtue of changing the rpm/transmission shift points. Hesitation problem is still there, but improved. Having engine air filter changed every 9 months helps minimize hesitation and vastly improves gas mileage.
Overall review: I would definitely buy this car again, however. Very fine and reliable car!

Automobile Engineering at its Best by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/05/2003. Trim: 2003 Lexus ES 300 Sedan, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros: Exceptional quality and overall comfort. Very little interior road noise. Great sound system.
Cons: Gas mileage is overstated and falls short of published ratings. Light colored floor mats that are not practical in areas that have hard winters. With all the features this car has there is another one that would really enhance this car. If an automatic starter for use in winter and summer had been factory installed, especially in eliminating having to use the special key when installed later. Also, rear mirror view is narrowed due to rear window configeration.
Overall review: A well designed car. A vehicle that stands alone.
