Best Wagon out there.
by Filippa, Jacksonville on 09/28/2006.
Trim: 2003 Subaru Legacy Wagon L, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros:
Excellent mpgs, handles great, very stable, sounds great, quality interior, solid, very reliable, safe.
Cons:
Not every mechanic knows how to work with a Boxer engine. So sometimes getting service could be hard. Don't use regular gas, just don't.
Overall review:
The Boxer engine is nice because it is 6 inches lower than a regular engine and gives this car a low center of gravity, which makes it very stable, All-Wheel-Drive helps in every situation. Best car I ever owned.

Good Sport Ute alternative
by Tom on 07/30/2004.
Trim: 2003 Subaru Legacy Wagon L Special Edition, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros:
Handles well, AWD, good MPG. Huge sunroofs. Easy to fold rear seats flat.
Cons:
Sluggish transmission, more power would be nice (both addressed in 2005 model).
Overall review:
Very please with my Subaru. AWD works great. Good MPG. No problems in 13k+ miles. Nice luxury touches, faux wood dash, leather wheel and shift knob. Very quite on the highway. We love the sunroofs, would be perfect if they had an auto open feature as the back one is so large takes a while to close. Suprisingly quick if you keep the revs up and change the gears yourself (automatic). Well designed for Subaru accessories, most items are prewired (tweeter kit). Another nice touch is the carpet, it has a rubber back. So, when a somthing is spilled, you can dry it quickly.

Subaru of America SUCKS!
by former subaru owner on 10/26/2003.
Trim: 2003 Subaru Legacy Wagon 2.5 GT, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros:
Has many good features that are worthless due to the shoddy quality of the overall vehicle.
Cons:
NO quality - sub-standard parts, paint, and workmanship.
SOA will not stand behind their vehicles and correct defects; very irresponsible company that continually ignores the problems on their vehicles.
Overall review:
Stay away from this company and their vehicles.

Nice Wagon
by Jeff - Chicago on 09/09/2003.
Trim: 2003 Subaru Legacy Wagon L Special Edition, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros:
L Special Edition is a good value. Fit and finish very good for the
price we paid ($21,000 with aftermarket leather). Alloy wheels add a nice touch to the simple, clean styling. Dual sunroofs are pretty cool. 5 speed is the only way to go with 165 HP. Lot's of nifty dealer installed options to dress it up.
Cons:
Front legroom a bit skimpy. Standard radio needs more oomph. Front seat sunroof is tilt only and the roof rack causes weird booming resonance when the rear roof is all the way open. All wheel drive hogs gas in the city.
Overall review:
As mentioned, nice bang for the buck! You won't find another NEW all wheel drive vehicle with these features for this price.
