As seen on the TV Show Cribs by Pete, Olympia, WA on 05/20/2008. Trim: 2003 Mercedes-Benz G-Class G500, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Very unique styling, or very little styling, your choice, I love it and so do other people, I get the thumbs up especially from the under twenty-five crowd.
Cons: Reliability, yikes its in at the dealer literally all the time! I don't think I can afford it after the warranty expires. Rides like a truck because it is one!
Overall review: Get the G55 option, its fast. You won't be disappointed with the G-wagon, its a brute!

The G-Wagen by G Owner in Arizona on 06/27/2007. Trim: 2003 Mercedes-Benz G-Class G55 AMG, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Styling is polarizing, you either love it or hate it. The drivetrain, on the other hand, is its greatest asset. From the locking differentials and deep rumbling exhaust note, to the craftsmanship put into the handbuilt engine and body there is nothing but accolades from me. I also enjoy the commanding driving position, and all the creature comforts imagineable. Porsche, Hummer, Rover or Lexus have nothing on MB when it comes to a true utility vehicle.
Cons: Gas mileage, but I knew that going in. The stereo is a bit anemic with respect to the Bose in a Porsche or a Levinson in a Lexus. There's also a lot of road noise, but again, I knew that going in. This is a truck, not a car. 285/55 18's will make some noise when they roll.
Overall review: Styling is a 10, because I love it. It was purposely styled in the 70's, when designed, and that style still suits it. I wouldn't change a thing. Performance is an 8 because I have the normally aspirated (non-Kompressor) AMG 5.5 liter engine. Granted, the sound coming from the side pipes more than makes up for any percieved weakness under the hood. Interior is a 9 because of comfort. On long stints behind the wheel, the seat feels like it could use more support. There are more accessories than most people would ever need. Quality is a 10. The truck is a master work of crasftmanship. In this day and age of robots and automated assembly, its reassuring to know that there are still artisans at work. The individual who assembled and signed my engine is proof to the quality, as well as a testament to MB/AMGs commitment to quality. As for a recommendation, I wouldn't recommend it to many people, it's not the vehicle for everyone, as a result, I can only give it a 5.

22 years and running like new! by From Peru! on 01/30/2006. Trim: 2003 Mercedes-Benz G-Class G500, Owned 4 years.
Pros: i had one from 1984, i used to go almost every weekend in Peru, hunting and surfing, exploring a lot of beaches and off road places, i sold it 11 years later to a dr. of an off road club, he's still doing around 15 offroad trips a year. the truck has now 22 years offroading, with the same engine, same paint, same everything and you can see is gonna last a lot more, there's no other truck as strong as the g-class and that's for sure!
Cons: people expecting car ride should buy cars no trucks this truck it's only for people that really knows and don't talk just for talking!
Overall review: it's been a piece of mercedes engieenering,it already came with rear and front locking differentials as standard equipment since 1977. it's a real mercedes benz, super...super...super.....strong!!!!!
