Oh, BTW the first Evolution sold in the US was the 03 evo 8, not 9 as stated on the msn review.

Gets the job done
by Zero from Fort Worth, Texas on 07/02/2004.
Trim: 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer ES, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros:
Very durable, mild to low ride noise, enough push to get you around
Cons:
Gearbox is quite rough, interior seems a little cheap
Overall review:
Overall, I'm quite happy with the car, considering the price I paid for it. It has enough push to get you around, and a little bit for the occasional open stretch. The car has its set of problems, though, as the gearbox does feel quite cheap, as does the rest of the interior. I probably say this because I'm used to driving a Dodge Stealth with a Getrag gearbox, so overall, for the price I paid for it, it is a good car. 7/10

Trim: 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer ES, Owned 3 years.
Useful?
Pros:
Pretty much everything......great dependability.
Cons:
Body panels......tin can thin and dent just as easily.
Overall review:
With the exception of the thin body panels this car is pushing a 10 all the way around . I bought mine second hand with 51k on it and could not ask for a better vehicle for what it is .

Problem free since 2003
by R on 09/03/2009.
Trim: 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally, Owned 7 years.
Useful?
Pros:
32+ mpg year round. Handles well, fun to drive with the 5 speed manual. Four door is family friendly. Fair stereo. AC will freeze you out on the hottest of days. Dependable, depedable, dependable. Still gets looks after nearly 7 years....OZ package fools many at first glance.
Cons:
What can you expect for $20,ooo brand new and fully loaded. Trim and finish are cheap, ride quality and cabin noise mediocre at best....again $20,ooo...
Overall review:
I purchased this car brand new in Oct of 2002, still having a year of college left the zero down, zero payments and zero interest for a year was its key selling point. I have replaced the front and rear brake pads once and put new tires on it. It has yet to be in for any repair other than factory mandated recall issues with three different engine sensors. The car drives through 6 + inches of snow as well as anything else that is front wheel drive. I still top 35 miles per gallon on the interstate and 31 miles per gallon in all other situations regardless of climate. It leaks no fluids, burns no oil, starts every morning regardless of temperature and has no surface rust anywhere on the exterior. This car has paid for itself twice over in milage and lack of service issues. If I was on a limiited budget again or needed a car for a child I would not hesitate for a second to buy another lancer.
