A solid truck
by California Cowboy on 01/11/2011.
Trim: 1994 Ford Explorer XLT 4-Door 2WD, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Starts every time, continues to run well with high mileage. The styling is exceptional and the interior is good and well thought out too.
Cons:
Gas mileage is very poor for the lackluster power. MAF sensor is touchy causing the check engine light to go on and off intermittently. Wanting to upgrade the stock stereo system.
Overall review:
17 years old and still looks brand new. A very solid and well built car.

The only Ford I like
by northern michigan girl on 04/03/2009.
Trim: 1994 Ford Explorer XLT 4-Door 4WD, Owned 4 years.

Pros:
Very dependable truck. Have had for 3.5 years in northern Michigan driving year round. Lots of them around here mine is still in better shape than most. Minimal repairs. About 186,000 miles.
Cons:
The transmission leaks and the breaks squeel. But transmission does not slip. And breaks work great.
Overall review:
Would recommend this vehicle and will definatly look into purchasing another when this one finally dies.

Pros:
Bought as a wreck in 2004.Had 136,000 miles on it-relative litterally pounded out the dents and off I went...have 182,500 and still going strong-hope to get at least another 2 years out of it.
Motor is STRONG,have had no tranny issues.4 WHEEL USED ONLY TO ICE-FISH,or if weather is really bad.Mucho torque, great winter vechicle STARTS EVERY DAY!
Cons:
EATS EXHAUST SYSTEMS-REPLACED PARTS OR ENTIRE THING2-3 TIMES, but they are cheap/plentifulVery slow accelleration,u can almost watch the gas gauge go down,16 mpg on a good day.
Overall review:
JUST KEEPS ON GOING-GOT GOODYEAR WRANGLERS on clearence at wal-mart last year for $51
YES $51 each in 2008-they really help winter performace.Have three other cars that I drive in summer-so explorer basically a winter/boat tow vecihicle, but still put on about 6,000 per year.
If u need a winter "beater"that is dependable/safe grab one if u can find one-I'll drive mine till its junk!!!
