Pure SUV--Get your money's worth! by LonestarTCU from New England on 04/05/2003. Trim: 2003 GMC Yukon 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: 5.3 Liter V8 is more than enough power. Electronic 4WD is smooth convienent. Easy to shift transfer case to neutral for towing. Excellent XM radio, 6-disk, Bose sound system. Seats wide and comfortable. High ride position, good visibility. Great cargo room, load-floor with two-seat version. Off-road suspension barely effects on-road comfort. Excellent handling and agility, especially in winter weather. Headlights very good on low-beam and brights. Power folding side mirrors. Price. Reasonable to insure. Very attractive and stylish. Window in the rear lift-gate opens separately or together. On-Star system convienent, but pricey.
Cons: Fog lights not effective. Controls for rear-wiper, radio tuning and A/C cheap and flimsy. Must shift to neutral to transfer into 4WD-Low. MPG in hilly areas well below city average. Soft brakes, requires a lot of pressure and pedal travel for quick stops. Limited choice in vehicles without the optional 3rd-row seats. Flipping rear headrests are not removable and limit cargo length by 5 in. Snow, ice gets packed between wipers, hood. Replacing a flat will be very difficult, heavy, dirty. Manual front controls for the rear compartment air. No interior release for the tailgate. Cross-rails for the roof rack are optional, no protective strips to keep luggage off of the roof paint.
Overall review: - Even though it has a shocking MSRP, dealers willing to heavily discount this popular car. This makes a fully loaded Yukon still very comparable to other mid and full-size SUV's. Options are worth the money, but you may have difficulty finding one equipped the way you want it. Can buy it well below every price found online. - You will not be afraid to take it off-road. Winter driving is a breeze. Even on sleet in 2WD you will not notice rear wheel slipping. If it does the locking differential will do its job. - Do NOT buy this vehicle if gas-mileage is a worry. Don't expect more than 17 MPG in the best conditions. The 26 gallon tank will get over 300 miles. - Buy this vehicle if you need cargo space, like to feel in command, go off-road, tow a large trailer, travel long distances, or just want your money's worth in pure SUV.
