Family workhorse by Sgt T Ft. Hood TX on 05/22/2011. Trim: 2003 GMC Safari Passenger Van, Owned 7 years.
Pros: With six children no other mini van could hold us all and still offer some room for luggage. Short on extras but tough as a brick. I have put 165k miles on it and still havent worn out the front brakes. Transmission went out at 80k but no other problems ever, very reliable.
Cons: It is noisy and the trim has not held on well, bits fall off and the side view mirrors have both jumped ship.
Overall review: Not the prettiest or most refined but if you need the space and need a tough vehicle this is a good pick.

A true 'mini-van' by Dave from Columbia, SC on 03/21/2005. Trim: 2003 GMC Safari Passenger Van AWD, Owned 2 years.
Pros: I like the towing performance with this mini-van. Highest towing capacity of all mini-vans. The SLT with leather interior is very comfortable. The mini-van is truck-like in it's ride, but well worth the extra towing capacity. I towed a camper in the summer through Texas and Colorado without a single problem. The A/C is so cold I cannot leave it on full cold temp...even in the summer.
Cons: It had a diesel-like noise when accelerating. The Dealer had to put in a timing chain tensioner. Makes me wonder why it wasn't done as part of the original design. Also, the rear pinion seal went bad then after it was replaced, the bearing went bad and had to be replaced.
Overall review: I am pleased with this true 'mini-van' for it's appearance, ride and towing. The SLT has all the comfort features a family could need while traveling like rear A/C, radio, and reclining backs on both of the rear benches with a center console with cup holders. It's a bit of a gas hog (17mpg hwy), though, so it doesn't get used much with today's gas prices.

GMC Safari AWD by An MSN Autos Consumer on 03/14/2005. Trim: 2003 GMC Safari Passenger Van AWD, Owned 1 year.
Pros: The vehicle has lots of interior space.
Cons: Mechanically it is a problem, in particular front front wheel bearings on the AWD models that wear allowing the wheel to become loose at 65000 km. This is costly to repair on the AWD models. Multiple electrical problems including the ABS system is costly to keep working. Automatic door opener operates erratically, sometimes the locks cycle on and off by themselves while driving down the road.
Overall review: I bought the vehicle for the interior space and am disappointed with the reliability and durability.
