GREAT SUV by TERROR OF WESTERN MASS. on 03/11/2011. Trim: 2003 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer 6.8L 4WD, Owned 1 year.
Pros: AWESOME TRUCK, RIDE QUALITY IS NOT AS BAD AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE SINCE IT'S ESSENTIALLY AN F-250. I'VE WANTED ONE OF THESE SINCE 2000 WHEN THEY CAME OUT, IT'S NICE TO FINALLY HAVE ONE. ROOM TO SPARE AND THEN SOME. PLENTY OF POWER WITH THE V-10. THE ONLY REASON I RATED IT AS AN 8 FOR BRAKING IS THAT THE PEDAL IS A LITTLE SOFT, BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER HOW HEAVY THE TRUCK IS. I WOULD RECOMMEND ONE TO ANYONE WHO IS PREPARED TO DEAL WITH THE FUEL COSTS.
Cons: NO COMPLAINTS. WELL.... MAYBE THE 10.5 TO 11.5 MPG, BUT I KNEW THAT GOING IN, SO I CAN'T COMPLAIN TOO MUCH.
Overall review: TENS ACROSS THE BOARD, GO THROUGH ANYTHING, SCARES THE SMALL CARS, CARRY ANYONE, TOW ANYTHING. LOVE IT. WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR THE WORLD. IF YOU GET LEATHER, AND LIVE IN COLD CLIMATES, GET HEATED SEATS.

i would recommend buying one by An MSN Autos Consumer on 11/06/2008. Trim: 2003 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer 6.0L 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: i have been a ford man from way back and have been driving a 99 f350 4door 4x4 diesel dually around town.looking for something with as much room ,but with 'better' around town ethic's, i test drove a old v-10 excursion and this seemed to be the ticket. after getting a great deal on a 6.0l diesel eddie bauer,i have to say this IS the best multipurpose vehicle i have ever driven,it will be around for along time.fuel mileage was 18 to start (in ga.) but has dropped to 16 in midwest.might be fuel filters.6.0l runs all over the 7.3 in my other truck, ford refined this chassis and driveline well.
Cons: i have had it back into the shop under warranty for the body being 'loose' on the road(esp in high winds)i am figuring shocks are not heavy enough.the only bad thing i have heard is the body must be lifted to change the spark plugs on the v-10 motors,so the cost is extra high.
Overall review: have had no problems with 6.0l diesel, but will add new exhaust (at least 4") and new air box as soon as warranty is off for better fuel mileage(help greatly on my 7.3l) can't ask for a better riding nicer looking, roomer all purpose truck, something you can load the back up AND still seat 6 comfortably. i would like to see ford start building these again, you can't beat it.

The Moose by Buddy, Lacey's Spring, AL on 04/09/2008. Trim: 2003 Ford Excursion Limited 6.8L 4WD, Owned 1 year.
Pros: My Excursion is very reliable @ 69,000 miles. Only 1 problem in 1 year, rebuilt the alternator for $200. 140 seat miles per gallon! That beats a V-6 Camry! I was fortunate to find this Limited Excursion in like new condition with only 60K miles. Will never sell it. I have only $5500 in it + wheels/tires. The 4WD is totally silent and the ride is wonderful. Recommend everyone install Bilstein shocks. The V-10 pulls like a Santa Fe Super Chief locomotive. Awesome!
Cons: This vehicle has no cons. Anyone who complains about gas mileage is not considering that the vehicle can easily carry 8 or 9 people. Don't think vehicle mpg, think seat miles per gallon. That is # of seats x miles per 1 gallon of fuel. Using that formula, the Excursion beats many small cars. Seat miles per gallon is the only logical measure of vehicle efficiency.
Overall review: If you want the ultimate truck SUV, I recommend that you hurry and find one. Every day the liklihood of finding an excellent one with few miles diminishes.
