The Perfect 2 seater
by anbkpl5 on 03/10/2013.
Trim: 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL500, Owned 10 years.

Pros:
The performance of this car is great. The engine has plenty of power, tranny shifts so smoothly you don't know its shifting. With the top down you can talk to someone or hold a phone call without raising your voice even at highway speeds. Seats are very comfortable, dash is clear and nicely laid out. The top foldsinto the boot in 12 seconds.
Cons:
The navigation system is a bit difficult to use and updates are expensive.
Overall review:
The perfect car for a long winding road trip.

Pros:
I own a top of the line SL - Loves corners, seats are very comfortable, has some Varrooooommmm to it, gets tons of attention if you have the right one, gas is not bad, and easy on the pocket book.
Cons:
The electronics is fubar, Cant use the phone, GPS LOL better buy a carrier pigeon, Ride control is like three diffrent levels of what will I break if I use it, and Mercedes does not back up thier product.
Overall review:
If you want ride comfort with looks of wow dont see those too often then its your car.

2003 SL MB AMG
by Steve in Marietta on 07/03/2012.
Trim: 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL55 AMG, Owned 10 years.
1
Pros:
Design is timeless, power is exceptional. Nothing coming out of the MB factory has been better, touted as being better for $1000s more for a fraction of a second less in the 0 to 60 range. Example: from 4.5 to 4.9 .... give us a break.
Cons:
Electrical works off of 2 batteries ( 1 for engine 2nd for electrical ); car is always on like a smart phone and like the phone — is a power grabber - must always drive it... weekly storage will eventually kill the battery. Side mirror found dangling after a small bump, gas tank cap came apart after gas station fill-up showing that children's LEGO sets had a far superior construction design. Low battery makes one headlamp not turn on until car indicates battery is OK.
Overall review:
Good looks and power - has me saying, give me the double bubble headlamps over any new AMG design

Best convertible on the road.
by Andrew on 01/11/2008.
Trim: 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL500, Owned 5 years.
1
Pros:
Beautiful and comfortable. Very much ahead of it's time. The ventilated massage seats and keyless go systems are superior to my newer and more expensive BMW 650ci. Acceleration is adequate and handling is great. I've had it longer than I've had any other vehicle, but since there still isn't a superior convertible, I'm not trading it in.
Cons:
The dealer in Sacramento is horrible. Every problem takes several attempts to get fixed, and there is never a knowledgable service manager to speak with. The adjustable height suspension is cool, but it has gone out 3 times and the incompetant service managers have no idea how to get it right. They know there isn't another dealership for miles and it shows.
Overall review:
I love my car, hate my dealership.
