Good Minivan as compared to other leading brands. by SANJEEV on 08/30/2009. Trim: 2002 Mazda MPV LX, Owned 3 years.
Pros: MIDDLE SLIDING WINDOWS, NICE SMOOTH STEERING, FLIP DOWN BACK SEAT FOR CARGO SPACE, SLOLID TRNSMISSION, ENGINE, FROM 2.5 YEARS I OWN IT ,DROVE ALMOST 100000 MILES ON IT ON HIGHWAY, NO PROBLEM, JUST CHANGE TIRES,BATTERY ORCOURSE FILTERS AND REGULAR OIL CHANGE. ABOVE ALL VR3 640G GPS FITS RIGHT IN IT SO I HAVE INBUILT NAVIGATION IN IT. IT HAS ALSO MIDDLE SEATS MOVABLE YOU CAN EASILY APART THEM FROM EACH OTHER.
Cons: I FEEL IT SHOULD HAVE OVERHEAD VENTS. HAVE LITTLE WIND NOISE MAY BE ALL VANS HAVE IT.
Overall review: LOVE IT, STEER LIKE A SPORTS CAR.

The Chosen Van (redux) by ttard on 02/19/2009. Trim: 2002 Mazda MPV ES, Owned 7 years.
Pros: Size is just right. Good visibility ,adequate power. seats are comfortable for the long haul, good looking, drives like a car not a van. Cruise control easy to use. Easy to park. Don't see one on every corner. Steering wheel audio controls are nice. Good headlights. Easy to do own oil changes.
Cons: Quality seems a little below par. Had a number of annoying things go wrong. Check engine light and catalyst problems. Actually have rust in a number of places on body, haven't seen this on newer cars since the 90's. Gear shift lever hides dash. Transmission is just starting to act a little ragged. Needed split rear seat. Rear a/c--heat sprung a leak. Leather seats never really appealed(cold in winter/hot in summer) Power doors and windows would act up sporadically. Actually had drivers door lock refuse to unlock.
Overall review: Bought this van new in 02. Generally I have been happy with it. Wife likes it a lot,but tomorrow it goes to a Dodge dealer for a new Grand Caravan. As an American I'm going to try to support my fellow citizens. I've only owned a couple of American cars over the years and both were problematic. One more chance Detroit to show me that I am spending my money wisely. Time as usual will tell.

No more MPVs by bunnyboo on 04/02/2008. Trim: 2002 Mazda MPV LX, Owned 3 years.
Pros: It is very roomy and travel friendly with children. Lots of cargo space. Drives like a car.
Cons: the check engine light would come on constantly. the van wouldn't start sometimes. I spent more money getting it serviced within a three month period. I had to let it go. If Mazda would get the kinks out of the check engine light, all of their cars would be fine, because i had owned a Mazda Protege and had the same problem.
Overall review: I would recommend the Nissan Quest (more leg room). It may look like a spaceship inside, but it is a cool ride.

Maximum versatility and comfort by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/25/2008. Trim: 2002 Mazda MPV LX, Owned 6 years.
Pros: This is the most functional vehicle we have ever owned and we are in our late 50's. We bought it new fall of 2002. It's cargo capacity and flexibility for passengers as well is great. MPG is a solid 22 with up to 25 on hwy. Interior trim and extra features have made it incredibly comfortable.
Cons: The only thing that would make this model perfect would be awd.
Overall review: Excellent vehicle for small business with need for hauling as well as passenger comfort.
