Buyer's remorse by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/07/2012. Trim: 2002 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML320, Owned 10 years.
Pros: This car has a decent sound system. It looks good too...
Cons: Rear CD changer is a serious inconvenience. I've owned this car for ten years and this is when all the problems began. Expensive repairs - be prepared. The rear bumper's plastic literally melted and broke. The sound system ultimately froze. Alarm system no longer works. The mechanics in the car doors AND windows no longer function properly. You have to literally lock/unlock the car manually with your own hands. I am not incredibly nit-picky about what I would like to see in a car, however, for something that was bought for $$$, you would expect it to last longer. I wish I had bought a Lexus or Acura instead.
Overall review: Keep yourself from getting a headache and just stay away from this model. I will not invest in a Mercedes again.

First Class ML by Florida Native on 03/23/2005. Trim: 2002 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML320, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Lower end of the M-Class, but superior in everyway. At 46,000 miles, this SUV runs like brand new. This was my first MB, as I owed BMW and Volvo previously. Safety features are unsurpassed. Impressed with Daytona MB Service Department, always helpful, educated and 1ST class loaners. I give this vehicle a perfect 10!
Cons: CD exchange in rear of vehicle, alittle inconvienant. No controls on wheel as most of the other MB boast. Had a problem with air filter, smells smokey/musty at times...and a current problem with fuel pump (could have been water in the fuel). Fixed immediately. Couldn't ask for a better warranty or service department.
Overall review: The Mercedes Benz ML gets high marks from me. I am pleased with my Certified MB, and will buy nothing but MB in the future!

Mercedes ML Is Just A Name by BeGlenn on 10/11/2004. Trim: 2002 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML500, Owned 2 years.
Pros: It handles very well, especially on wet roads. The interior is very nice. And I like the take off and braking. It has a very nice sounding stereo system.
Cons: The brakes squeek all the time. You have to buy a new navi cd every year and pay a $200 dollar fee every year for the Tel Aid whether you use it or not. The daytime running lights do not come on automatic.
Overall review: The ml500 handles well but I could have gotten something better for a lot less money. The Lexus GX470 will be the next suv that I will purchase. It is a very smooth riding vehicle and you get more bang for your money. Mercedes ML is just a name that you pay for. You do not get the bells and whistle on the suv that you should get for what you are paying. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. I would steer them to Lexus or Infinity because you do get your money worth and some.

A much improved ML by ARMOR from Oregon on 01/01/2004. Trim: 2002 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML500, Owned 1 year.
Pros: MB should be commended for the improvements and tweaks it has accomplished starting from 2002 model year. The ML 500 embodies the true definition of "SUV" and indeed does it well most especially in the area of safety standards.
Cons: Door ajar warning chime and light should be incorporated into the interior console design. Power tilt and telescoping steering wheel feature should be made available, if not offered, as standard equipment. It wouldn't hurt to enhance the instrumentation illumination by employing electroluminescent technology.
Overall review: I found this SUV to be true to its character and form. Based on the performance it produces, it has achieved a nearly perfect balance of power, comfort, prowess and fuel economy. A note of caution: SUVs are not judged on quietness as a sole criteria. Other attributes are considered and therefore, the overall package. In the end, the test drive becomes the confirmation and the factor that drives one's overall decision to acquire a particular vehicle. In this regard, the ML 500 is worthy of the drive. Do it and you'll know what I mean by - GO GET ONE!
