Yukon Gold! by An MSN Autos Consumer on 12/18/2007. Trim: 2002 GMC Yukon XL 2500 4WD, Owned 5 years.
Pros: Just a great truck, brakes have lasted forever ($80k+ miles), ride is great and tows well.
Cons: Fuel economy is a drawback, but that is the nature of the beast.
Overall review: We really have enjoyed this vehicle that we decided to buy it from our lease. The new models just did not offer anything tremendously better than this model. It has been reliable, attractive and a good people, boat & dog hauler on vacations to the desert, the beach, or the snowy mountains.

Comfortable but Unreliable by Lindag8r on 08/16/2006. Trim: 2002 GMC Yukon XL 1500 2WD, Owned 4 years.
Pros: Wonderful interior room and a great vehicle for larger families. Very roomy and comfortable for passengers in all 3 rows. Excellent instrumentation and lighting.
Cons: Transmission had to be rebuilt at 70K. This is very disappointing as this vehicle has been pampered mightily. Vehicle also blew a fuel injector at 40K which was covered under our extended warranty.
Overall review: If you trade vehicles every 3 or 4 years, this is a great truck. If you are like me and hang on to your vehicle for many years, shop for another SUV.

Great Vehicle that I want to love more.... by Timothy on 06/17/2006. Trim: 2002 GMC Yukon XL 1500 4WD, Owned 1 year.
Pros: I am very tall, and this vehicle addresses that very well. It makes me want to go for good old fashion Sunday drives again. In the war on fuel economy, real passenger room has become vanishing commodity. What good is rear passsenger space if no one can sit behind the driver?
Cons: As a vehicle I really want to like more, GM has produced, yet again, poor execution some great ideas. Build quality(for the time this SUV has been around)should be class leading....and it is is not.
Overall review: If purchased used, buy a good GM comprehensive warranty covering everything. GM needs to firm up the "Certified Pre-Owned Program". Dealers are selling these vehicles as certified and letting the new owners find the problem areas.....

Be careful, Don't say no one warned you. by Chris, Columbus Ohio on 01/12/2005. Trim: 2002 GMC Yukon XL 1500 4WD, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Big, roomy,
Cons: Reliability is horrible. I have 30K miles on it and the radiator blew, the transmission failed, It was recalled for the steering shaft, The leather seat tore, there are many squeaks and rattles. The computer controlled heater and a/c system has broke 5 times now. The "new transmission" rear seal started leaking 2 weeks after it was installed. The passanger front window falls out of its tracks when raising it. I think that all of it so far. The sad part is I had a 1997 Suburban and had just as many problems so the new body style did not improve reliability.
Overall review: GM builds the most expensive and unreliable vehicles I have ever owned.
