Probably the best large SUV
by Saunders & Co. on 07/27/2002.
Trim: 2002 Toyota Sequoia SR5 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
Toyota quality, lots of room, beautiful beige leather interior, even the fake wood option ain't too bad.
Cons:
The sound system sucks! The optional JBL radio/CD/cassett unit is OK, but the JBL speakers are the poorest of quality...the least amount of volumn and they crack and distort. The standard factory provided speakers in my 1994 Volvo are superior in sound and performance as compared to the JBL's. I wonder if the new Mark Levison(?) system now available in the Lexus sedan will ever become available, as a much-needed option, in the Sequoia. I would gladly have paid $500, $600, or maybe $700 more for quality speakers from the factory.
Overall review:
The sound system and a couple of creeks and rattles keep me from rating it a perfect 10!

Great family car.

Pros:
I love the room! with 2 kids in carseats and 2 big dogs, it definitely was a great choice. I have owned it since 2002 and still going.
Cons:
Brakes. The car has had problems with "shaking" down a steep hill during braking.
Also, the seat warmer buttons are on the center console which can be accidentally turned on. Poor positioning; I have turned the seat warmers on during summer accidentally!
Overall review:
I think the sequoia overall is a great family car if you are in the market for a higher end SUV.

A decent choice.
by Bjammin on 02/17/2008.
Trim: 2002 Toyota Sequoia Limited 4WD, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
A great feel, a great look. Plenty of power. Great on the highway or in the city. Consistent MPG either way. In severe weather keeps traction without a problem.
Cons:
Lots of poorly engineered pieces. Brakes wear poorly, the AC was seriously faulty, the oil pressure sending unit is faulty, the Toyota service is expensive and seemingly unending. Too bad a company like Toyota refuses to do a better job for their higher end customers.
Overall review:
I love the feel of driving and riding in this machine. It is sizable and feels secure. It performs well. The interior and exterior styling are nearly perfect. It has several issues with faulty componenets but overall is a decent choice.
