chevy prizms from prizm girl's view by prizm girl in NNY on 08/11/2010. Trim: 2002 Chevrolet Prizm LSi, Owned 9 years.

Pros: good car, good mpg, solid.
Cons: they don't make them anymore. the 2002's seem to be a little less good.
Overall review: Our '93 model has never had a check engine light come on, except at startup, but the 2002's both had evap trouble. My family had two from this year but dad wrecked the stick in 2008. He was ok, just sprained his thumb, but poor Blueberry (car) was totaled. We still have the other '02, which is automatic. It has 79,000 something miles and it has only needed maintance and evap fixed. We got the stick one in 2005 and had it till '08. We'd still have it if it hadn't been wrecked. The other one was bought new.

Reliable little car by nikki from california on 03/26/2003. Trim: 2002 Chevrolet Prizm Sedan, Owned 1 year.
2
Pros: This is a great car for first time buyers. It's comfortable, quite and a joy to drive. I have had no problems with it and I'm a person who does not perform regular maintenance. It stands up to my abuse. I leased, but I think I'll hang on to this car when my lease is up
Cons: The back seat doesn't go down for more trunk space. Oddly enough I have every added feature, CD player, power locks, A/C, but no power windows. Kind of unusual. Also, it idles high.
Overall review: I love it......everyone should buy one!!

Basic car that consumes oil early in its life. by Ron, NW Montana. on 08/17/2010. Trim: 2002 Chevrolet Prizm Sedan, Owned 8 years.
1
Pros: Owned since new, very good basic car. Only needed lube and fluids replaced per service interval. Reliable for it's early life and good on gas.
Cons: Very thin paint that chips easy and forms rust spots if not taken care of. 3 speed auto tranny is horrible over 65Mph also resulting in somewhat poor fuel economy for a car it's size, started suddenly to use oil at 90k miles. And getting progressively worse, do some research and you will find it is a common problem not addressed by neither Toyota or Chevrolet.
Overall review: Overall a good car as new, but BE AWARE of oil consumption that really should not happen with todays tolerances. No car should actually consume 1qt every 3k miles, that is pure BS from the 50's and beyond.

Good for reliability and budget, but fails everywhere else. by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/08/2010. Trim: 2002 Chevrolet Prizm LSi, Owned 6 years.
1
Pros: The reliability is by far its best attribute. I have had far less than expected large repairs needed on the 180,000 miles this car has been on the road. The gas mileage originally was excellent, but has greatly decreased over the years.
Cons: Acceleration is horrible. The 3 speed automatic is horrible. The interior is simple and the seats rather uncomfortable. The car is quite inexpensive, and it shows in the styling, everything in this car is very simplistic and has no details that stand out. My particular vehicle burns oil at a rate of 1qt per week under normal driving, even though the oil was changed every 5,000 miles throughout its life.
Overall review: This is a good car for those who are looking for a reliable car that will last forever, but have a strict budget. If you are looking for handling and acceleration, along with comfort, this is not the car for you.
