2002 LE - Reliable and Economical

Pros:
Above all, reliable and dependable transportation.
Quiet, peppy engine.
Excellent gas mileage.
AC really cools and heater really warms.
Cons:
Interior trim around doors and windows curls and disintegrates - major issue, seen on other Corollas too.
Location and function of cup holders inconvenient.
Exterior paint doesn't hold up appearance over time as well as it should.
Comfort level iffy on long trips but still above usual for an economy car.
Overall review:
Bought mine in 2005 with only 23,000 miles. At present, have 77,000 miles (June 2011). Gonna drive it till it dies. No frills but a dependable and economical car. Basically the engine and transmission are problem free but the cosmetic appearance of the car really falls over time. But if you're short on money for a used car and need something good and reliable, this is a great choice overall.

Pros:
Nice styling, comfortable ride, quiet.
Cons:
Reliability is terrible. 83000 miles andwith 2 engine rebuilds and 1 transmission rebuild. Toyota does NOT honor their warranty if the engine is cnsuming oil. This is a common issue with all Corollas with the 1.8l VVT engine. Do a web search. You wil find people with Corollas ranging from 2001 to 2008 with the same problem, and Toyota will not fix any of them.
Overall review:
This is a great car with perfect reliability on the accessories. If it had a reliable engine and transmission, then I would definitely recommend it. Instead I will never buy a Toyota product again. If they had honored their warranty, then I would.
