Subaru is well-known for making vehicles that are both functional and fun to drive. They feature all-wheel-drive powertrains and horizontally opposed “boxer” engines, and boast some of the best crash-test scores in the business. Founded in 1968 by two Philadelphia entrepreneurs, Subaru of America (SOA) formed an alliance with Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI) of Tokyo and became the exclusive U.S. importer of its Subaru brand of vehicles. The company’s best-seller is the compact Impreza, which is offered in two high-performance World Rally Championship-inspired versions. Subaru also sells midsize cars and compact and midsize SUVs.
