Audi staged two world premiers at the Tokyo Motor Show with the debut of the most powerful S8 sedan ever offered, and the Shooting Brake Concept, which is thought to represent the design of a next-generation Audi TT coupe.

With fluid, yet aggressive styling, punctuated by large fender flares that integrate into the front and rear fascias, and large 19-inch split-spoke wheels, the Shooting Brake Concept looks like it may not be far from production. While there was no official word from Audi, pre-show discussion has pegged this concept as the next TT.

The now trademark Audi single-frame grille is integrated into the overall design in a very fluid way, while the roof line tapers down toward the rear of the vehicle and includes an integrated rear spoiler. The shape of the roof creates more of a traditional hatchback shape and adds more useable interior room than the current TT, both for rear seat passengers and cargo, resulting in what Audi refers to as "The Utility Sports Car."

The Shooting Brake Concept is powered by a 3.2-liter V6 that delivers 250 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque at 2500-3000 rpm, resulting in acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in 6 seconds. Other features include permanent quattro all-wheel drive, Audi ceramic brakes, adaptive shock absorbers, and Audi magnetic ride.

The interior features high-tech materials and carries over the TT's trademark round center air vents. The center console is trimmed in Electric White Pearl Effect finish.

Audi's new S8 debuts as the high-performance sport version of the Audi flagship, now powered by a 450-horsepower 5.2-liter V10 FSI engine with intake manifold technology developed on the all-conquering Audi R8 LeMans-winning prototype race car. The engine delivers maximum torque of 398 lb-ft at 3500 rpm, with 90 percent of maximum torque available at just 2300 rpm, resulting in a 0 to 62 mph time of just 5.1 seconds.

Exterior styling includes an integrated trunk-lid spoiler, 20-inch split-spoke wheels and wide air inlets next to the fog lights to deliver cooling air to the engine.
